Happy mother's day

In honour of mother's day, I thought I'd write a little something about my mom. Initially, we had plans to cook her dinner, but decided to go out instead as it would be easier. When I observe others with their mother and there's a sense of distance, it almost becomes hard for me to comprehend. I suppose I've never known it any other way, as my mother as always been amazing. I'd describe her as a fireball. She grew up most of her life, without her parents as she was separated from them during the war in her early teens. She's extremely bubbly (too much at times), extremely affectionate, talkactive, and a great cook. I can honestly say that I can talk to my mother about anything, we hold nothing back.

Facts or memorable moments about my mom:

1. When she's on a cleaning rampage, get out of her way. These are her not so friendly moments, she becomes a totally different person he..he..extremely cranky. I actually have a nickname for her in Khmer baisahk clean (translation is “cleaning beast”)

2. She makes the best home made sausages, tofu, and pickled veggies.

3. Scared to death of caterpillars (so am I). I remember one time she was out on the patio, and I screamed from my room “caterpillar,” and she screamed her head off, jumping and yelping all over the patio. I like to play tricks on my mom, it's just too cute:)

4. Taking care of me when I was extremely ill. In high school I had to get surgery, and my mom spent many sleepless nights by my side. She barely slept throught the night as she'd have to wake me up every couple of hrs for my medication.

5. She's extremely forgetful and clumsy (a trait she's passed down to me).

6. Growing up she liked to put my sisters and I in matching outfits (at which many of them she sewed herself).

Too a dedicated wife, loving mother, and an amazing friend.
